Workshop on Intro to Data Science and Scientific Computing with Python, Jupyter, and Google's Colab

Student Commons Building, CU Denver, Room 1600

Please use the registration link by Oct. 28th and reserve your spot!

All levels of background are invited! The only requirement is that you bring a WiFi enabled laptop or other portable computing device with a working web browser and have a Google account. This workshop focuses on using free cloud-based computing solutions. No programming software installation is required/used during this workshop.

Workshop Agenda:

9:30-10 a.m.: A brief overview of the open educational resources (OER) developed, primarily in Jupyter and Python, by the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences and available via GitHub. Platform: Google Colab.

10-10:30 a.m.: Interacting with a Jupyter notebook in Colab including how to add/delete/edit contents while also organizing the notebooks within your Google drive.

10:30-10:45 a.m.: Coffee break

10:45 a.m.-noon: Explore introductory Jupyter notebooks on Python programming for data science and scientific computing.
